Arsenal have now gone nine matches without a win after losing 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.

Neal Maupay’s late winner sealed another embarrassing result for the Gunners, who are on their worst run of form since 1977.

With fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea to come in December, and Manchester United on New Year’s Day, things could be about to get a whole lot worse.

Arsenal fans had hoped that Freddie Ljungberg would have a similar impact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had when he arrived at Manchester United on an interim basis last season.

But there’s been no such spark. A 2-2 draw against Norwich City was followed by the defeat to Brighton and it’s hard not to feel that Ljungberg isn’t ready to lead Arsenal’s first team.

The fans, of course, are not taking it well.

Arsenal Fan TV’s views have never been higher and Arsenal Twitter is in despair.

And one supporter who attended the Brighton match summed it all up with her message which was captured by the cameras - and didn’t require a lip-reader.

“It’s ridiculous. The whole thing’s ridiculous. A joke,” she says.

There are a million more Arsenal fans who feel the exact same way.

It’s December and the north London club are 24 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

They are level on points with Sheffield United, who were playing in the Championship last season.

Many thought that Unai Emery was the issue but their problems appear to reach further than that.

And the fallout from their fall this season could be seriously damaging.

How are Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette going to be convinced to sign a new contract if Arsenal can’t offer Champions League football?

How are they going to convince a top quality manager to come in and turn their fortunes around?

Arsenal’s future is shrouded in mystery but early signs for where they are headed aren’t good.
