Arsenal fans don’t have much to shout about right now.

The Gunners continue to be the laughing stock of the Premier League, the latest embarrassment coming in the form of a 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.

The defeat leaves Arsenal in 10th place and just five points above the relegation zone.

And it’s hard to see a way out of his mess.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are both reportedly unwilling to sign a contract extension and could leave the Emirates.

Meanwhile, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has committed his future to the Foxes by signing a new five-and-a-half year contract.

So there are problems away from the pitch that are also hurting the north London club.

Where do we start with their on-field issues? How about in defence.

David Luiz has been a disappointment since his arrival in the summer from Chelsea while his centre-back partner Sokratis hasn’t fared any better.

'Holding is good because he's blond'

The arrival of William Saliba from St Etienne next year is exciting and Rob Holding should also be in contention to start when he’s fully healthy.

Holding is a popular choice among supporters, with one fan going to great lengths to declare his admiration for the 24-year-old on radio station talkSPORT.

The supporter, named Rich, called out for Arsenal to instil a centre-back with “British hunger” in their defence, and cited Holding as his favourite choice.

And when listing Holding’s best attributes, Rich bizarrely mentioned his blonde hair.

“Our best centre-back is Rob Holding, and I don’t know why they underestimate that guy so much,” the fan said.

He’s got presence, he’s big, he’s blonde.

Presenter Jason Cundy summed it up by asking: “What’s the colour of his hair got to do with it?”

Indeed. If only blonde players can be good centre-backs, then what’s Virgil van Dijk doing finishing runner-up to Lionel Messi in the Ballon d’Or voting?!
