Highly rated Frenchman Yann M’Vila is a summer transfer target for Liverpool reports talkSPORT.

The 20-year-old Rennes midfielder has been on the Reds’ radar ever since the arrival of their Director of Football Strategy Damien Comolli, who knows the player well from his time spent in France.

M’Vila has seen his stock rise dramatically in recent months after a string of commanding performances in Ligue 1 saw him drafted into the France national team.

The ‘new Patrick Vieira’ as he has been donned by journalists in the French media is said to have been scouted by Liverpool in each of his last three fixtures.

And with glowing reports sent back to Comolli, an attempt to bring the player to Anfield in the summer looks increasingly likely.

Liverpool are keen to add extra steel alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard and Raul Meireles in the Reds’ midfield, and after a recent interview with a French newspaper, M’Vila paved the way for a potential move to England in the summer.

"Which league do I watch on TV? The Premier League! It matches my game," he told L'Equipe.

"It is a warrior's game, where you have to show plenty of fighting spirit. I'm a big fan of the English state of mind and tackling.”

M'Vila clearly feels his style would be perfectly suited to the Barclays Premier League and would no doubt prove to be an asset for Liverpool.

But with the player contracted to Rennes until 2013 the Ligue 1 outfit are in no rush to sell, and it is thought it will take a bid upwards of £10m for Kenny Dalglish to land his man.
