Anthony Joshua is the heavyweight champion of the boxing world once again.

It was redemption for the Brit in Saudi Arabia, as he outboxed Andy Ruiz Jr over 12 rounds to claim victory by unanimous decision.

A slimmer, quicker Joshua produced a punch perfect display to win back his beloved belts, with the heavier Ruiz simply unable to get close to the now two-time world champion.

And in his post-fight interview, Ruiz admitted that his extra weight was a hinderance throughout the evening.

Ruiz told Sky Sports: “It was his night. I didn’t prepare how I should have.

“I gained too much weight. I don’t want to give excuses, he won. He boxed me around. If we do a third fight you best believe I’m going to get in shape. I’ll be in the best shape of my life.

“I thought I was going to feel stronger. Next fight I’m going to get more prepared. I tried to train myself for this.

“I was chasing him too much. I was hesitating too much.”

You have to ask the question; why on earth did he gain so much weight in his training camp?

In Madison Square Garden on June 1, Ruiz's speed and lighter frame was the key to his memorable upset over Joshua.

Both fighters stated their intention for a trilogy fight, but with Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury in his eye line now, Ruiz may not get his wish.

A bizarre decision from the Ruiz camp, with Joshua picking their game plan apart with relative ease.

Pundits were heavily critical of his Ruiz's physique in the build-up and they were all proven right!
