Anthony Joshua avenged his humiliating 2018 loss to Andy Ruiz Jr after a sublime display of boxing saw him clinch their Saudi Arabia rematch.

Joshua was tactically superb, not allowing Ruiz to plant his feet and using a frightfully effective jab to keep his distance from Ruiz's lightning hands.

It was a gameplan that worked an absolute treat as Joshua dominated just about every round.

Joshua simply would not be sucked into the danger zones in which Ruiz can be so deadly and it was clear for all to see that the Mexican was extremely frustrated.

On all levels, Joshua just looked far more prepared and will be flying back to the UK with all his regained titles in tow.

Speaking in the aftermath of his absolute masterclass, Joshua revealed just how much he had to change in order to make up for what happened in New York.

Joshua said: “This is about boxing. I’m used to knocking guys out, but last time I realised something.

“I said to myself I’m going to correct myself.

“I just wanted to put on a great boxing masterclass and show the sweet science of this sport. It’s about hitting and not getting it.

“There was never a change in mentality, you know the saying; stay hungry, stay humble.

“I’m hungry, I’m humble in defeat, and I’m going to stay humble in victory.

“I want to say thank you to Andy Ruiz and his family, thank you to Saudi Arabia, thank you to all of the travelling fans.

“Thank you to god, thank you to Eddie Hearn and Barry Hearn and thank you to all my team."

In the end, Joshua was good value for his win and his team will be overjoyed to see all their hard work pay off.

Now, the biggest question on the lips' of fight fans is who comes next?

Many are calling for Joshua to take on the winner of the Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder rematch in what would be one of the biggest fights of the century.

For now, though, Joshua will be keen to celebrate his win in the desert before arriving back in the UK to a hero's welcome.

Live it large AJ, you've earned it.
