Barcelona destroyed Mallorca 5-2 in La Liga on Saturday night.

Lionel Messi was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick, while Luis Suarez also bagged a stunning backheel goal.

Antoine Griezmann was Barca's other goalscorer and there was even something special about his strike.

He was assisted by goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The German shot-stopper showed great awareness by firing a quick pass to the left flank, where Griezmann took it in his stride and before chipping the ball into the net.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Ter Stegen has assisted a goal this season.

Against Getafe in September, the 'keeper played a long ball over the top to Luis Suarez, who finished in a similar fashion to Griezmann, with another chip.

That means Barca's number one now has two assists in this La Liga campaign and his stats are more impressive than a number of Europe's top players.

Real Madrid's Eden Hazard has only managed one league assist this season, as has Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Even Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil only has one to his name as well.

Imagine being one of Europe's top stars and providing fewer assists than a GOALKEEPER.

But that's the reality for Ronaldo, Hazard and Ozil at the moment.

Of course, Ter Stegen's own stats are very impressive for his position.

He's the only goalkeeper in Europe's top five leagues to assist two goals this season. But with the likes of Messi, Griezmann and Suarez up front, it's hardly surprising he's managed that.

It just seems a question of how many assists he can go on to get this term and the way Barca are playing, don't be surprised to see Ter Stegen add a few more.
