The undercard to Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr II didn’t fail to deliver.
On a wet night in Saudi Arabia, tension was in the air as we awaited the main event of the evening, however, amongst the undercard was Diego Pacheco against Selemani Saidi for a scheduled four-round bout.
And during that fight we saw the punch of the night!
Fans wouldn’t have to wait any longer than needed for the main event; it was inside round number one - 1min 38secs to be exact - before the 18-year-old super middleweight landed a right-hand knockout punch to Saidi, which in fact had match officials and medics concerned for his wellbeing for a short while.
Following the right hand, Saidi was out before he hit the canvas; the referee promptly intervened, removed his mouth piece and allowed medics to insure his safety.

It was 98 seconds Selemani Saidi will want to forget in a hurry, however, it was a night to remember for Pacheco who will look to fight again in the new year.
Commentators of the fight noted the speed of the hands of Pacheco and praised his ‘old head on young shoulder’ mentality.
As soon as the right hand of Pacheco connected with Saidi it was “BYE, BYE, THAT’S THE END, PUNCH OF THE NIGHT, SAIDI WAS GONE BEFORE HE HIT THE CANVAS” – courtesy of the match commentators.
Taking Saidi’s pro boxing record to 20 wins, 16 losses and 5 draws; will we see the experienced professional fight again in the new year? Time remains to be seen…
