Liverpool beat Bournemouth 3-0 on Saturday to continue their Premier League dominance.Manchester City's defeat later in the day now means the Reds have a 14-point lead over the reigning champions. While Leicester City are closer - eight points back - it really does look like Liverpool might end their 30-year wait for a title. It's quite remarkable then that the win over Bournemouth might be their first truly great performance of the season so far.Trent Alexander-Arnold said during the week that Liverpool hadn't been happy with any performances this season.

But they had little reason to complain on Saturday - they even kept a clean-sheet, their third of the season.

They prevented Bournemouth from having a single shot on target in a defensive display that suggests they might be getting on track there.

And is it any surprise when Virgil van Dijk is pulling off tackles as he did against Dominic Solanke?

In one stand-out moment of the first half, Ryan Fraser fed Solanke through the middle of the pitch with the score at 0-0.

The ex-Liverpool forward drove towards goal but as he got into the area, Van Dijk appeared out of nowhere to take the ball with a perfectly-timed sliding tackle.

You can check it out below:

Just utterly dominant.

Even when you might think you've got past Van Dijk, he always seems to find a way to get back and win the ball.

You rarely see him need to go to ground but it's no surprise that he's capable of winning the ball like that when he does.

There's a reason he's known as the world's best defender, after all.
