The managerial merry-go-round is set for another frantic spin with news emerging that Everton have approached former Arsenal boss, Unai Emery.

Emery's time at Arsenal was tumultuous, to say the least, as he struggled to win over the fans or impose any kind of clear identity on the squad.

The Gunners suffered one of their worst starts to the season with a frightfully fragile defence buckling under the weight of the incredible amounts of shots they were conceding.

New signings David Luiz and Nicolas Pepe failed to make immediate improvements to the squad and eventually, the Arsenal hierarchy had no choice but to let Emery go.

It was an equally difficult season for Everton's Marco Silva, who was given the sack after his sides' embarrassing 5-2 loss to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby.

The Blues slumped into the relegation zone following that drubbing and Silva was quickly sent packing while there was still time to rescue the season.

Now, according to Sky Sports, Everton have approached Emery with the hope that he will be able to resurrect their form from the Goodison Park hot seat.

Per the report from Sky, an informal meeting has already been held in London as both parties prepare to get proceedings underway.

Emery is also said to be keen on improving his English, which had clearly become a major stumbling block during his time in north London.

Everton fans, on the other hand, might not be terribly enthused by the idea of having Emery take over.

While the Spaniard was sensational during his time in charge of Sevilla, his following spells at Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal have been incredibly underwhelming.

It could be argued though, that he would perhaps be better suited to a club like Everton where he would be given time to craft a squad capable of gatecrashing the top six.

With a better understanding of the rigours of the Premier League and a better grasp of the language, Emery might not be the worst move for Everton.

Whether he is ready to jump straight back into the big time after an emotionally taxing spell at Arsenal, is another thing entirely.
