Chelsea squeezed through to the knockout stages of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

With Valencia pulling off a shock win away to Ajax, the Blues needed to win at home to Lille to book their place in the last 16.

They did just that thanks to first-half goals from Tammy Abraham and Cesar Azpilicueta.

A late Loic Remy goal for the visitors made the final few minutes tense, but Frank Lampard's side are through.

Captain Azpilicueta's 35th-minute header turned out to be the winning goal and with it, the Spanish right-back has now scored twice in this season's Champions League.

That means he has more goals that a certain Cristiano Ronaldo in Europe so far in 2019/20.

The Juventus forward has managed to net just once in five group stage games. To make Azpilicueta's stats even better, he's managed more goals than Ronaldo in 21 fewer shots.

Chelsea's defender has scored twice from four shots, while Juve's star man has only managed one from 25 attempts.

He has, of course, got one more group game to overtake Azpilicueta.

But with the Serie A champions already qualified as group winners, Ronaldo may well be rested by Maurizio Sarri against Bayer Leverkusen tomorrow night.

How embarrassing is it for the man nicknamed 'Mr Champions League' to be out-scored by a right-back so far this season?

Well, in reality, not very.

We all know how much of an impact Ronaldo has had on Europe's elite competition during his career and he holds so many personal records.

Oh, and he's also won it five times.

So, comparing his stats with Azpilicueta is nothing more than a little fun. What makes it even more interesting, is there's a chance Chelsea and Juventus could meet in the next round.

If that happens, we'll get to see Ronaldo vs Azpilicueta face-to-face!
