The mysterious case of Braun Strowman continues to baffle the minds of WWE fans.

The Monster Among Men was booked as such at the start of his wrestling career, but as the years have gone on it looks as though WWE just don't know what to do with him.

He's had several world title shots against the likes of Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins but never triumphed, and he's not really had a WrestleMania moment yet either.

Yes he won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal this year at 'Mania, but that was on the Kick Off show, so it doesn't really count.

And the year before he teamed with an actual child to take the Raw Tag Team Championships off Cesaro & Sheamus, so that really showed what Vince McMahon thinks of him.

Strowman still goes through spells though of WWE making the fans think they see him as a big deal, such as when he faced Tyson Fury at Crown Jewel in October.

But like any huge match he's taken part in though, Strowman was defeated, and since then he's done little of note apart from being counted out of the elimination match at Survivor Series.

He last competed at the Starrcade live event on December 1, but Dave Meltzer has reported since then that Strowman is suffering from an injury thought to be 'back spasms', although WWE have since said that he's got a sore hip.

This, according to Meltzer, led to the nixing of an angle between Strowman and Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, per WrestlingInc.

Strowman actually eyed up Nakamura's old title belt a number of weeks ago backstage whilst they went face-to-face, and Shinsuke didn't back down, but it's unclear as to how they'd have come to a title match on the previous edition of SmackDown.

Whilst it's been apparently nixed for now, the match could still happen this Sunday - if Strowman manages to recover from his injuries in time.

WWE really do need to decide whether or not they're going to push him, and finally getting his hands on a singles championship for the first time ever.

And a match between him and Nakamura would be genuinely intriguing for a first-time match-up - let's hope we get to see it either this Sunday or somewhere down the line!
