It was a very comfortable evening for Manchester City.

With top-spot already secured, Pep Guardiola made several changes for their trip to Dinamo Zagreb.

But a Gabriel Jesus hat-trick and a Phil Foden goal secured a 4-1 win in Croatia - despite going 1-0 down.

City were able to rest the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates.

But despite being 3-1 up with 15 minutes remaining, Sterling was given a little run-out.

He did very little during his time on the pitch but that didn’t stop him from producing a world-class tweet at full-time.

Sterling posted four images of his bizarre facial expression during the match with the caption: ‘Phil Jones would be proud.’

Of course, the Manchester United defender is renowned for pulling ridiculous faces during matches.

It’s probably not great timing for Sterling to mock Jones, though.

Just days ago, Jones’ United went to the Etihad and beat Sterling’s City 2-1 to put a massive dent in their Premier League title bid.

With that result, City fell 14 points behind league leaders Liverpool and could be 17 points adrift by the time they face Arsenal on Sunday.

Sterling will be looking to add to his 15 goals this season as they now put the Champions League to the back of their minds.

The knockout stages resume in February and City can now concentrate on chasing down Liverpool on the domestic front.
