Paris Saint-Germain finished their Champions League group stage campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of Galatasary. Two first-half goals within three minutes from Mauro Icardi and Pablo Sarabia gave the French side a 2-0 lead going into half-time.Neymar made it three shortly after the break, before Kylian Mbappe got in on the act with just under 30 minutes remaining.Neymar then had the chance to make it 5-0 when PSG won a penalty in the 84th minute. But the Brazilian forward showed a maturity he has been lacking on occasions in the past.

Neymar famously fell out with Edinson Cavani in 2017 when the two argued over who would take a penalty in a match against Lyon.

Neymar then damaged their friendship further when he decided to not hand over penalty duties to the Uruguayan in an 8-0 win over Dijon in February last year.

Cavani had the chance to become PSG's highest scorer ever if he scored, but Neymar was unwilling to part with the ball.

However, Neymar showed class on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old had already got himself on the scoresheet and wanted to give Cavani his chance too.

So he made sure he got the ball himself and handed it to the Uruguayan so he could take the penalty.

Cavani thanked his teammate, before converting the resulting spot-kick to put gloss on what was a comfortable night for PSG.

Neymar explained his actions after the game.

"Cavani is an excellent penalty taker, a great player, he's the Matador," he said, per RMC Sport.

"The only thing he was missing was scoring, so that way he was able to score and everyone came home happy."

Despite being placed in a group with Real Madrid, the French giants finished unbeaten in Group A with 16 points from a possible 18.

They will now face either Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Spurs, Dortmund, Atalanta or Napoli for a place in the last eight.
