Liverpool could complete a major coup by signing Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg for just £7.25 million.

The Independent are reporting that the Premier League table-toppers have agreed a deal in principle to activate his cheap release clause in the January transfer window.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was impressed by Minamino’s displays against his side in the Champions League and is the “driving force” behind the transfer.

Adding the Japan international to an attack that already includes Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino would represent a very good piece of business.

Minamino has scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in 22 appearances for Salzburg this season. Just imagine what he could do when surrounded by Liverpool’s talented trio.

As is always the case when teams are linked with players, Liverpool fans will be flocking to find out as much about Minamino as they can.

He certainly fits Klopp’s mould; he’s hard-working, technically gifted and has a fine attitude.

And his highlights make for very enjoyable viewing if you’re a Liverpool supporter.

Minamino’s skills are on show in a 10-minute video that shows his skills, finishing and creativity for RB Salzburg.

£7.25m. Wow.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a negative review about Minamino.

“He is an outstanding player with an outstanding personality,” Christoph Freund, RB Salzburg’s sporting director, told the Independent.

“The big clubs have been watching him and if I was them, I’d have no hesitation to sign him.

Takumi is ready to make the next step in January.

Sadio Mane and Naby Keita also developed at RB Salzburg and Liverpool’s excellent off-field relationship with the Austrian club has helped push them ahead of the queue to seal Minamino’s signature, according to the Independent.
