FIFA 20 is just 19 days away from reaching the year that adorns its front cover.

There has been plenty of brilliant footballing moments to celebrate in 2019 and the recent awards season has paid tribute to players like Lionel Messi, Virgil van Dijk and countless others.

But 'The Best' awards and the Ballon d'Or aren't the only titles being dished out and EA Sports' aforementioned game series similarly likes to honour the best performers of each year.

FIFA annually rolls out a 'Team of the Year' on Ultimate Team, constructing the finest XI of the last 12 months and rewarding them with upgraded blue cards that reflect their performances.

And this year, gamers themselves can pick which players feature. EA unveiled the 55 players who are contention for the final XI and opened the decision-making process up to the public.

GIVEMESPORT's Kobe Tong says

Nominees are, well, just nominees so I'm not going to sweat the details of the list when EA Sports haven't dropped any clangers, but it would be rude not to suggest my votes for the final XI.

Alisson is a no-brainer. While he's not necessarily the world's best goalkeeper in isolation, winning the Premier League and Copa America Golden Gloves make his 2019 statistics unassailable.

Alexander-Arnold, Robertson and Van Dijk are also dead-certs in my team, while De Ligt takes the final spot after a breakthrough season at Ajax and a solid start to life with Juventus.

Meanwhile, another former Ajax man in De Jong also gets the green-light from me, but I'm shunning the decision of the FIFPro World XI to place Hazard and Modric alongside him.

I'm confident that De Bruyne and Tadic are the worthier duo based on 2019 alone.

And sorry Ronaldo, but you're going to have enjoy watching Mane, Messi and Lewandowski manning the attack from the substitutes' bench.

However, it's by no means my opinion that prevails, so be sure to get your votes in - how apt on UK Election Day? - to help decide which blue cards emerge on Ultimate Team.
