Jadon Sancho's suitors haven't been put off by his struggles at Borussia Dortmund this season.

On the pitch, the 19-year-old still has a decent record of 10 goals and nine assists in all competitions.

Off it, he's cut a somewhat unhappy figure and the expectation is that he's entering his final few months at Signal Iduna Park.

The forward has been something of a trailblazer for young English players willing to try their luck abroad after struggling to make a breakthrough at Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola just didn't believe he was ready for top-flight action but he's proved the Catalan wrong and become an England international in a very short space of time.

In fact, Sancho has been so impressive that the Premier League champions now want to rectify what has turned out to be a very expensive mistake in letting him go.

The Daily Mail report that while Manchester United have long been the favourites to land his signature, the Red Devils now have a problem on their hands - because City can match any bids they make.

There's been a change in City's stance. Previously, they had asked to be informed of any offers Dortmund received, but they are now actively pursuing a deal of their own as they look to beat United and Liverpool to the highly-rated teenager.

Per the same report, he would be happy to return to the Etihad despite his lack of first-team opportunities in his first spell there.

On his way over from Germany, he might pass Leroy Sane going the other way with the midfielder set to be the subject of renewed interest from Bayern Munich.

There have been games when Sane has looked fantastic at City, but injuries have played a big part in a growing feeling that it just hasn't quite worked out for him in the north-west.

Sancho's arrival would represent a huge boost in City's flagging season, too. Guardiola's men look increasingly unlikely to retain their title as they sit FOURTEEN points off Liverpool.

Perhaps it is City who can renew Sancho's sense of self-worth after he has been made to feel a scapegoat for some of Dortmund's poor results this season.

He has also had disciplinary issues and was fined £86,000 for returning late from international duty.

None of that should really deter United from their long-term target. What *might* put them off is entering into a bidding war with their neighbours, as those usually end one way.

At least United remain favourites to bring Erling Haaland to Old Trafford - so it's not all bad news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
