Eden Hazard proves he still loves Chelsea after bumping into fan

It’s not often that a star player departs a club with the best wishes of the fans they’re leaving behind.

But Eden Hazard received a warm send-off from the Chelsea supporters following his big-money move to Real Madrid in the summer.

The world-class Belgian winger had given Chelsea seven years of tremendous service, scoring 110 goals in 352 games and helping the club win several trophies in the process, including two Premier League titles.

His final appearance for the west London outfit was the 2018/19 Europa League final against Arsenal - and he bowed out by producing a Man of the Match performance in Baku.

Hazard scored two of Chelsea’s goals and assisted another as the Blues recorded a convincing 4-1 win over the Gunners.

So when he finally admitted that he wanted to embark on a new adventure in La Liga, Chelsea fans thanked him for everything he’d done for them and wished him the very best of luck.

This reaction presumably made a big impression on Hazard because the 28-year-old isn’t ruling out a return to Stamford Bridge one day in the future.

Chelsea fan Frank Khalid, who has 36,000 followers on Twitter, bumped into the Belgium international earlier this week - and it turns out that Hazard is still very much a Blue at heart.

“When I finish here, I come back,” Hazard tells Frank with a smile on his face.

He also confirmed that he still watches Chelsea and is impressed with how Frank Lampard’s talented young side is performing this season.

Hazard, whose move to the Bernabeu could eventually cost Real Madrid up to £150 million, hasn’t exactly hit the ground running in the Spanish capital.

One goal and four assists in his first 13 appearances is a disappointing return for a player who Madridistas hoped could fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo 12 months earlier.

But he has an excellent opportunity to endear himself to the Madrid faithful on Wednesday night, when Spain’s top two clubs go head-to-head in the first Clasico of the season.
