The Premier League title race is looking like a bit of a one-horse race at the moment but it's far from that in La Liga this season.

Barcelona have often dominated La Liga in recent seasons, but this year their great rivals Real Madrid have been matching them stride for stride, with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid not too far behind either.

And the title race has taken another twist this weekend, with Barcelona dropping points on Saturday against fifth-placed Real Sociedad ahead of Real Madrid's tough trip to Valencia on Sunday night.

A key component of Sociedad's impressive performance against Barca was playmaker Martin Ødegaard, who was in the thick of the action in the number 10 position.

His performance certainly didn't go unnoticed, and many fans pointed to the fact that he may well be ready to put in similar performances for his parent club.

Ødegaard is currently on loan at Sociedad from Real Madrid, having struggled to break into the first team at the Bernabéu.

The Norwegian wonderkid had Europe's top clubs desperately chasing his signature in 2015 before he decided to make the move to the Spanish capital.

Since the move though, he has only featured once in the senior team and has been loaned out three times, to Heerenveen, Vitesse and Sociedad.

With Eden Hazard struggling since his move from Chelsea and Gareth Bale clearly disillusioned at the club, there may just be an opening for Ødegaard in the near future though.

And his performance against Barca certainly enforced his credentials, with the youngster being involved in a host of chances throughout the 2-2 draw.
