Everton's Moise Kean was subbed off against Man Utd after just 18 minutes

Moise Kean will not remember his first trip to Old Trafford very fondly.

The Italian striker has struggled during his first few months at Everton, but even he couldn’t envisage thinks sinking as low as they did today.

Duncan Ferguson brought on the former Juventus man in the 71st minute, with Kean replacing the knackered Bernard.

But in the 88th minute, those watching at home and in the Sky Sports commentary box were baffled when Kean’s number came up on the fourth official’s board.

Oumar Niasse came on and replaced the Italian, with Kean then walking down the touchline and straight down the tunnel.

He didn’t even look in Ferguson’s direction…

In his post-match interview, Ferguson said that the substitution was nothing personal, he just simply wanted to make a substitution because “we had too many strikers on the pitch”.

But surely he could have taken off someone else?

Embarrassing a 19-year-old kid in front of 75,000 people in the stadium and millions around the world will not exactly do wonders for his already delicate confidence.

Ferguson is doing a lot of things right in the Everton hot seat, but his treatment of Kean could come back to haunt him.

Although, no one would dare tell him that to his face!
