Manchester City produced a masterful performance to defeat Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

A first-half masterclass from Kevin De Bruyne helped City to a 3-0 lead at half-time and the game was pretty much over at this point.

Whether Freddie Ljungberg gets the Arsenal job on a permanent job or it's given to someone else, the Gunners' next manager has a serious job on their hands.

Arsenal are reportedly interested in hiring Mikel Arteta but this wasn't a great look for the north London club, with the Spaniard watching on as Pep Guardiola's assistant.

It took just 89 seconds for Man City to open the lead and it was De Bruyne who got it.

The Belgian fired home a sweeping City move before many inside the Emirates Stadium had even taken their seats.

Oh, Arsenal. Their Twitter admin didn't even have time to write a 'Here we go!' tweet before the Gunners went behind.

It didn't take long for City to double their lead. Arsenal's high press was admirable but in the 15th minute, Guardiola's side managed to escape it and they made the hosts pay.

This time De Bruyne played provider, teeing up Raheem Sterling to score his ninth league goal of the season.

The defending Premier League champions were making the most of Arsenal's abject defence and they didn't even have to work too hard for their early lead.

De Bruyne completed his first-half masterclass with his second goal five minutes before half-time.

The 28-year-old wriggled free of Matteo Guendouzi before dispatching a fine left-footed effort beyond Bernd Leno.

De Bruyne nearly completed his hat-trick two minutes later but Leno expertly tipped his long-range strike onto the post.

To sum up Arsenal's woes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had just eight touches in the first half. Three of those came from kick-off.

There was no way Arsenal were getting back into the match but Ljungberg would have hoped to see a bit of fight from his players.

He got it from Mesut Ozil - but only after he was subbed off.

The German was seen volleying his gloves in the air after he was brought off to some boos.

The cameras then cut to Alexandre Lacazette as he sat rooted to the bench following Arsenal's final sub. He didn't look at all impressed.

With the defeat, Arsenal are now as close to the relegation zone as they are the top four in the Premier League.

They are seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and seven points ahead of 18th-placed Southampton.

What a disaster.
