Arsenal's descent into total disarray continued as they slumped meekly to a 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester City. Worst of all, it was all over inside the opening 40 minutes thanks to a superb brace from Kevin De Bruyne sandwiching Raheem Sterling's strike. The Gunners now have a goal difference of -3 and sit closer to the relegation zone than they do the top four. The end of Unai Emery's tenure was marked with repeated boos at the final whistle? Has that changed under Freddie Ljungberg? Well yes, but only because there was practically nobody left in the stadium by full-time.

The Swede deserves some sympathy here. The caretaker boss' charges have won just once under his leadership, but he is very much an interim manager.

Ljungberg has only recently completed his coaching badges and Arsenal desperately - and we cannot stress 'desperately' enough - need to announce a permanent appointment.

On top of that, he is a club legend and is clearly hurting watching their demise - take a look at him watching them defend.

It'll be a meme before we know it. Can anyone blame him? Whoever takes over in the long run has an almighty job on their hands.

It's now 14 successive games on the bounce for Arsenal without a clean sheet, dating back to the start of October.

How long Ljungberg will be in the dugout for remains unclear.

Reports earlier this week suggested Arsenal would be approaching Wolves about Nuno Esperito Santo, but they appear no closer to confirming the Portuguese.

Meanwhile, the likes of Massimiliano Allegri seem to have distanced themselves from the post.

Buckle up Freddie, you might have to watch this for a little while longer.
