Moise Kean suffered the ultimate humiliation yesterday as the substitute was substituted during Everton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford. But this wasn't a normal first-half sub being withdrawn in the second-half.Kean came on for Bernard in the 70th-minute but was replaced by Oumar Niasse in the 89th-minute.Eighteen minutes on the pitch before he subbed - and he wasn't even injured.During that time, United had equalised and were pressing for a winner.

Kean clearly wasn’t impressed with the decision and walked straight down the tunnel, without acknowledging caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson.

After the match, Ferguson attempted to explain his decision.

"I can see why he’s upset," said Ferguson. "I’ll speak to him next time I see him, tomorrow probably.

"I’ll mention it. I think it’s understandable if you’re a sub getting subbed off, I’ve been there as a player myself.

I was just looking for fresh legs really. Unfortunately, he was the one I decided to bring off.

"He struggled to get up to the speed of the game and I said I was going to put on a guy who can handle it a bit better. It was no slight on Moise Kean, I just wanted to kill a bit of time."

Fresh legs!? Surely no legs were fresher than Kean’s, who had only been on the pitch for 19 minutes.

However, a video has emerged that backs up Ferguson’s suggestion that Kean wasn’t quite ‘fresh.’

Just 13 minutes after coming on, Kean was seen bent over seemingly trying to catch his breath as Leighton Baines prepared to take a corner for Everton.

His teammates behind him were on their toes looking to trouble United once again from a set-piece. But Kean looked absolutely knackered.

Take a look:

Maybe Ferguson saw that kind of body language - and apparent lack of fitness - and decided he couldn’t rely on Kean to see out the rest of the game properly.

GIVEMESPORT’s Rob Hoskin says: Was Ferguson right in substituting Kean after just 19 minutes?

If he thought swapping him for Niasse would help Everton earn a draw, then yes.

But what had he seen during those 19 minutes that he hated so much?

Kean had nine touches while he was on the pitch and won none of his five duels. He also lost the ball six times and made no tackles.

Not exactly what you need from a striker when you’re trying to hold onto a result at Old Trafford.

But to take him off in the 89th-minute was a massive move from Ferguson. Only a few managers would be brave enough to do that.

Kean has made a slow start to life in England following his £26m move from Juventus. He’s still looking for his first goal for the club.

And now, his confidence will be at rock bottom.

It’s Ferguson job to somehow turn that around.
