The 2010s have been a mixed bag for Real Madrid.

Domestically, Los Blancos haven't been as successful as they would have liked.

They've only managed two La Liga titles this decade - in 2012 and 2017 - and have often watched their rivals Barcelona win it all.

However, they have shone on a European front.

Madrid managed to end their 12 year wait for a Champions League title when they won it all in 2014, before winning three consecutive titles between 2016-2018.

As they always have done, Real Madrid splashed the cash again this decade as they accumulated a number of world stars.

But who makes it into their best XI this decade? WhoScored.com have crunched the numbers using statistics taken from La Liga and European games.

It's important to note that only players that have played more than 70 times for the club this decade have been included.

Goalkeeper: Keylor Navas (143 appearances) - 6.89

Navas didn't get the respect he should have done while he was at Real Madrid.

He signed for the club in 2014 and was reliable between the sticks.

However, Real Madrid decided to replace him with Thibaut Courtois and the Costa Rican left for PSG last summer.

Right-back: Dani Carvajal (221 appearances) - 7.18

Carvajal may not be regarded as one of the best right-backs in the world, but he's been a consistent defender for the club since returning to the club from Juventus in 2013.

Real Madrid signed Eder Militao last summer for big money but Carvajal has retained his place in the side.

Centre-back: Sergio Ramos (382 appearances) - 7.28

Ramos has to be considered one of the best centre-backs in history.

The Spaniard excels in defence but he's also one of the best goalscoring defends of all-time.

Just this decade, Ramos has netted 53 times for his club side in La Liga and the Champions League. Only four players have scored more goals for Real Madrid in that time.

Centre-back: Pepe (231 appearances) - 7.20

Ramos and Pepe formed a partnership from 2007-2017 that no striker ever wanted to play against.

The Portuguese defender was a controversial defender at Madrid but surprisingly was only sent off three times in a white shirt this decade.

Left-back: Marcelo (359 appearances) -7.34 rating

Marcelo has to go down as one of the best left-backs of the modern era.

The Brazilian defender hasn't been the best defensively, but he's made up for that going forward.

Marcelo has 96 goal contributions this decade (28 goals, 78 assists) and averages one every 305.4 minutes of playing time. Very impressive.

Central midfield: Toni Kroos (227 appearances) - 7.37 rating

The German midfielder has enjoyed five-and-a-half superb seasons at Real Madrid.

Kroos was a key figure as Real Madrid won three consecutive Champions League titles from 2016-2018.

Now 29, Kroos remains one of the first names on the team sheet.

Central midfield: Xabi Alonso (187 appearances) - 7.40 rating

Joining Kroos in midfield is Alonso. The German actually replaced Alonso at Real Madrid so we never had the pleasure of watching them play together.

But what a player Alonso was. He could dictate any game and possessed the technical ability to do pretty much whatever he wanted.

He remains well thought of at Real Sociedad, Liverpool, Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Right wing: Gareth Bale (218 appearances) - 7.49 rating

Bale's relationship with Real Madrid fans may be fractured beyond repair, but there's no denying how much he's contributed since joining in 2013.

Signed for a then world-record £85 million fee, Bale made a huge impact in his first season as he helped his side to the Champions League title.

In La Liga and Europe, the Welshman has played 218 times and scored 96 times for his club.

Attacking midfield: Mesut Ozil (136 appearances) - 7.39 rating

Ozil's time at Real Madrid was fairly brief - he was only there for a little over three seasons - but it was enough time to make his mark.

The German playmaker struck up an almost telepathic relationship with Ronaldo and managed to record an impressive 61 assists in 136 appearances.

Left wing: Cristiano Ronaldo (381 appearances) - 8.17 rating

Ronaldo is comfortably Real Madrid's highest rated player and rightly so.

The Portuguese made 381 appearances for the club this decade and scored a ridiculous 403 times.

Ronaldo also registered 113 assists, more than any other player, meaning he recorded a goal contribution every 64 minutes-per-game.

Striker: Karim Benzema (409 appearances) - 7.33 rating

Benzema might be one of the most under appreciated players in the world right now.

The Frenchman has scored 212 times in La Liga and the Champions League this decade, meaning he averaged a goal every other game.

Notable omissions

Luka Modric (7.23 rating)

Modric won the Ballon d'Or in 2018 but hasn't done enough to get in the side.

Casemiro (7.27 rating)

Casemiro has arguably been the best defensive midfielder in the world since signing for Real Madrid in 2013.

Iker Casillas (6.75 rating)

Casillas was once the best goalkeeper in the world but lost his spot as number one before leaving in 2015.

Isco

The Spanish midfielder has scored 40 times in 251 games.

Raphaël Varane

Varane displaced Pepe in this Real Madrid side but has not done enough to get in the team.

The fact that players like Modric, Casemiro and Casillas can't even get in the side shows just how many quality players Real Madrid have had in the past 10 years.

It's no surprise that Ronaldo is Real Madrid's highest rated player, but it is interesting that Bale has statistically been the club's second best player.

Ozil's inclusion is also somewhat surprising, but it just goes to show that he was one of the world's best players during his stint at the club.
