The top 10 Premier League goalscorers this decade

An incredible decade of Premier League football is drawing to a close.

We’ve witnessed some amazing scenes in England’s top-flight in the last 10 years.

Sergio Aguero’s last-minute winner against QPR on the final day that sealed Manchester City’s first league title in 44 years will go down in history. As will Leicester City winning the league at the odds of 5000/1.

In the 2010s, we’ve seen Chelsea win the league three times, Manchester United lift the trophy twice, City on four occasions and, as mentioned, Leicester once.

Having racked up 198 points in their last two seasons, City are probably the Premier League team of the decade. And their striker, Sergio Aguero, is the league’s top goalscorer in the last 10 years.

Aguero has notched 173 goals, 39 more than his nearest challenger.

But how does that compare to other top strikers?

9= | Sadio Mane | 75 goals

Mane first arrived in the Premier League ahead of the 2014/15 campaign with Southampton. In his two seasons at the St. Mary’s, he scored 21 league goals.

But Mane has taken his game to a new level since joining Liverpool for £34 million and has notched 54 in the Premier League for the Reds - sharing the Golden Boot last season.

9= | Raheem Sterling | 75 goals

Also on 75 league goals is Sterling. Eighteen of those came at Liverpool before his £49 million move to Manchester City.

He’s since scored 56 times for City in four-and-a-half seasons.

8 | Olivier Giroud | 78 goals

The Frenchman bagged 73 league goals for Arsenal in six seasons but has only managed five for Chelsea in two-and-a-half years.

7 | Eden Hazard | 85 goals

Giroud’s former Chelsea teammate managed 85 goals during his time at Stamford Bridge.

The Belgian arrived in the summer of 2012 from Lille for £32 million and spent seven years in west London before a big-money move to Real Madrid.

6 | Jamie Vardy | 96 goals

Vardy started the decade playing non-league football. He could end it with 100 Premier League goals if he manages four more.

During Leicester’s title-winning campaign in 2015/16, he scored 24 - including scoring in 11 consecutive games.

This season, he’s managed 16 in 17.

5 | Robin van Persie | 98 goals

Despite leaving England after the 2014/15 season, Van Persie scored 98 goals for Arsenal and Man Utd.

Van Persie’s managed 50 goals for the Gunners this decade before he controversially swapped the Emirates for Old Trafford, where he scored a further 48 as he helped them win the 2012/13 Premier League title.

4 | Romelu Lukaku | 113 goals

Lukaku didn’t manage any goals for Chelsea but scored 17 while on loan at West Brom.

Sixty-eight goals followed at Everton before a further 28 at United.

Despite all those goals, Lukaku failed to win a single trophy during his time in England.

3 | Wayne Rooney | 114 goals

Rooney managed just one more goal than Lukaku in the Premier League this decade.

The legendary striker scored 104 of them at United, with his most prolific campaign coming in the 2011/12 season where he netted 27 goals.

He scored a further ten after his return to Everton in the 2017/18 campaign.

2 | Harry Kane | 134 goals

Kane’s breakthrough season didn’t come until the 2014/15 campaign, where he scored 21 league goals.

In the following three years, he scored 25, 29 and 30 before ‘only’ grabbing 17 in the 2018/19 season.

1 | Sergio Aguero | 173 goals

Who else?

Aguero has taken the Premier League by storm after arriving in the summer of 2011 from Atletico Madrid for £35 million.

In his debut season, he scored 23 - a tally he beat in the 2014/15 campaign when he found the back of the net 26 times when he won the Premier League Golden Boot.

In fact, in his eight seasons in the league, Aguero has only failed to hit 20 league goals on two occasions - 2012/13 and 2013/14.
