Gamers react to new 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' Cranked mode

'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' received a pretty substantial update this week, replete with new maps, game modes, bug fixes and more.

The patch also introduces a new operator called Nikto, “a former Russian FSB deep cover agent that has been reassigned to Spetsnaz in the Allegiance forces.”

Cranked, the mode that debuted with 'CoD: Ghosts', has also returned this week. The new mode is an amped up version of Team Deathmatch where players are given 30 seconds to get a kill, otherwise they explode.

Infact, since its release, a number of players are already praising it as an “anti-camping” mode that takes gamers back to the glory years of CoD.

Naturally, you’d assume that a mode that focuses on purely aggressive play would hardly reward camping, and that seems to be exactly the result Cranked has achieved.

A good number of the CoD community have taken to social media to express their hope that the new “refreshing” mode sticks around.

Spec Ops mode also gets new content, with Operation Strongbox and two classic Spec Ops missions: Disinform and Bomb Squad.

Unfortunately for Activism, the latest update hasn’t gone down entirely smoothly with some Modern Warfare addicts.

Certain players are complaining that Shipment, a returning map from the original Modern Warfare, has been “completely ruined.”

Adding to that, the game’s Piccadilly map was also met with similar criticism, with players being dropped in the middle of firefights with no way to get to cover before being blown away.
