Liverpool announced the signing of Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg on Thursday.

The Japanese star impressed for Salzburg in their games against Liverpool in the Champions League this season.

Liverpool will be ecstatic to sign Minamino, but they will be even more pleased that they were able to buy him for just £7.25 million.

That looks like a bargain for a player that could contribute a lot when he officially joins in January.

Minamino's signing is just the latest brilliant bit of transfer business made by the club.

The Reds have become one of the best team's in the world once again and a big reason for that is their success in the transfer market.

Michael Edwards became technical director in 2016 and was made sporting director shortly after.

And the transfers the club has under his guidance have been just incredible.

He was responsible for overseeing the signings of Mane, Salah and Van Dijk; all of which have become world-class at Liverpool.

Edwards has also managed to sign some players for bargain prices. Just £8m for Robertson and £13m for Shaqiri are incredible deals.

Liverpool have spent £410.25m during his time, which is a lot of money, but a large chunk of it has been money well spent.

Impressed? Well, you'll be even more so when you look at some of the sales he's been able to make...

To sell Ibe, Benteke, Sakho, Ward, Solanke and Ings for a combined £121.5m is just unbelievable.

He was also able to sell players who were no where near the first team for good money, including Stewart (£8m) and Kent (£6.5m).

It's been his ability to sell players for more than their value which has allowed them to splash out on first team players.

And it's the players that he has signed which have propelled Liverpool back to the top of world football.

The work he has done since 2016 has been nothing short of remarkable.
