After a stalemate in El Clasico, Barcelona were back firing on all cylinders with a 4-1 win over Alaves.

Ernesto Valverde's side took their time to get going in a 4-1 win - but by the time they'd finished, their whole attack had gone in on the act.

Antoine Griezmann, Arturo Vidal, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez all got on the scoresheet.

It's Suarez who undoubtedly deserves the most credit, though.

The Uruguayan's penalty was arguably a less meaningful contribution than his three assists. That's right, he set up every single one of his teammates' goals.

In return, Messi allowed him to take the spot-kick.

It was a great gesture from the Argentine, but it was no less than Suarez deserved.

The striker now has 16 goals and has set up eight more in all competitions for the Blaugrana this season.

His hat-trick of assists on Saturday can be further put into perspective as that's one more than Eden Hazard has managed all season.

The Belgian has struggled to hit the ground running since joining Real Madrid for a fee that could yet exceed £150 million.

The 28-year-old has recorded one assist in La Liga and one in the Champions League.

On top of that, he's scored just one goal for his new club. There have been moments of promise but by and large, Real have been reliant on Karim Benzema in attack.

Hazard is a top, top player so it's surely just a matter of time before he starts making the kind of impact he did at Chelsea.

However, that stat is still testament to Suarez's performance against Alaves.

The 32-year-old ensured Messi hit his half-century of goals for the calendar year and continued to dispel rumours about him not seeing eye-to-eye with Griezmann.

The Frenchman, Messi, and Vidal all greeted Suarez warmly as they celebrated their goals in recognition of the true architect of Barcelona's victory.

The result temporarily takes the league-leaders three points clear of Madrid, who play Athletic Bilbao on Sunday night.
