Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp probably didn’t fancy a trip to Qatar midway through their Premier League campaign but that’s the reward for winning the Champions League. On Wednesday, the Reds took on Mexican side Monterrey in the semi-final and triumphed 2-1 thanks to a last-minute winner from Roberto Firmino. But their final against Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo was always going to be a tough test.Klopp fielded his strongest possible side as they took to the field against the Brazilian side.In the first five minutes, the Reds missed a couple of glorious opportunities as first Firmino and then Naby Keita - the two goalscorers in the semi-final - blazed over when they really should have scored.

For the rest of the first-half, Flamengo put the European champions under pressure.

And the Premier League leaders grew more and more frustrated.

They certainly weren’t impressed by some of the officiating by Qatari Abdulrahman Al-Jassim.

Towards the end of the first 45 minutes, Sadio Mane was penalised.

Liverpool were on a break and Mane looked to be clear of the Flamengo right-back, Rafinha.

But Rafinha used his experience to pull back Mane, leaving the Senegalese star to retaliate and push the Brazilian to the floor.

To the anger of every Liverpool fan, the referee awarded Flamengo the free-kick and gave Mane a yellow card.

Mane was fuming.

However, fans spotted Andy Robertson run over and tell him: “Don’t worry, I’ll get him, don't worry!" - speaking about Rafinha.

We all need a teammate like Robertson, don't we?
