Alisson Becker must be keeping his fingers crossed that 2019 never ends.

As we march on towards Christmas and New Year, we become more and more reflective about the last 12 months and Alisson could probably speak for days about the incredible year he's had.

Since signing for Liverpool last summer, the Brazilian shot-stopper has gone from strength to strength and added the FIFA Club World Cup to his trophy collection on Saturday night.

It seemed appropriate that the man who has been so reliable for the Reds across 67 appearances would keep a clean sheet in the game that saw them crowned world champions.

Of course, that glittering piece of silverware in Qatar will live alongside the Champions League trophy and UEFA Super Cup, the former of which was won with Alisson between the sticks.

First full year at Liverpool

And there was also success for the 27-year-old on international duty as Brazil romped their way to Copa America glory with an astonishing defensive record.

Naturally, being omnipresent in those title victories doesn't come without individual accolades and Alisson quickly became a familiar face on the awards ceremony circuit.

Alisson was named the world's best goalkeeper at both the Ballon d'Or ceremony and FIFA's equivalent, while also slotting into the two respective teams of the year.

GIVEMESPORT's Kobe Tong says

I'll be the first person to admit that I believe Jan Oblak is the best all-around goalkeeper, but how can anyone else be considered number one right now when you consider Alisson's year?

Sure, Alisson has been fortunate to have some of the world's best defences in front of him, but that many trophies - both individual and as a team - and clean sheets simply isn't a coincidence.

You only need to look at moments like his incredible save against Napoli to see his importance in the big games. Besides, Liverpool wouldn't be European champions without him.

Everybody has their own metric for naming the best goalkeeper in the world and more often than not, I take their performances in isolation and leave the overall team out of it.

But when you're talking about a world, European and South American champion with a Premier League Golden Glove in his back pocket, I'm willing to rip up my rule book and crown him the king.
