There was a time not so long ago when David de Gea was considered the best goalkeeper in the world. But he has been nowhere near his best in recent times. And he dropped another clanger against Watford on Saturday afternoon.Manchester United and Watford played out a dismal first half at Vicarage Road. But it was the home side that would take the lead five minutes after the break.

And it came after a disastrous mistake by De Gea.

De Gea looked as if he would easily claim Ismaila Sarr's tame effort at goal.

But the Spaniard let the ball squirm between his grasp and into the back of the net.

Oh my word. That is shocking from De Gea.

And it went from bad to worse for Man United just a few minutes later.

Watford were awarded a penalty when Sarr was taken out by Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the box.

That gave De Gea the chance to atone for the error he had made just moments before.

But he failed to do so asTroy Deeney converted from the spot to give the home side a shock 2-0 lead.

De Gea has now made SIX errors leading to a goal since the start of last season. No Premier League player has made more in that time frame.

The Spaniard was rewarded in September with a brand new contract worth around £117 million.

The amount of money he's earning is hard to justify now given the amount of costly mistakes he's made in the past year-and-a-half.

If De Gea keeps this sort of form up, United may even look to replace him in the near future.
