Paulo Gazzaniga conceded a penalty for Tottenham Hotspur with a wild lunge on Chelsea's Marcos Alonso moments before half-time in Sunday's Premier League clash in London.

Spurs were already trailing 1-0 through Willian's fine finish when Gazzaniga suffered a rush of blood to the head and conceded a penalty after catching Alonso in mid-air.

Referee Anthony Taylor initially failed to give a penalty but pointed to the spot after consulting VAR.

Willian stepped up and tucked the ball away to make it 2-0 to Frank Lampard's men.

It was the perfect start for the Blues as they went in search of a win against their former manager.

Much of the focus in the build up to the match centred around the master vs apprentice battle between Jose Mourinho and Lampard.

The duo formed a close relationship when Mourinho was the manager at Stamford Bridge and Lampard admitted before Sunday's clash that he has taken man-management tips from the Portuguese coach.

"When Jose first came to Chelsea, he was the first manager on a day-to-day basis who made me feel very close to him, working on the mental side, giving me that confidence," Lampard said, per the Daily Mail.

"You form a bond. Working with the younger players now, it's my duty to forge that same bond with them.

"They're starting their journeys, their careers, and need to look up to me and the staff. I love all the young boys here. They're good lads, really good players."
