There was a time when David de Gea was considered the very best goalkeeper in the world. But that definitely isn't the case anymore. The Spanish goalkeeper had a dismal 2018/19 campaign where he made mistake after mistake.Despite these costly errors, he was handed a new contract by Man United in September which made him the highest paid goalkeeper in the world. But, despite that boost, he hasn't justified his wages.

After being at fault for a goal against Everton last week, De Gea then produced another calamitous mistake on Sunday against Watford.

Since the start of the 2018/19 season, De Gea has now made more errors leading to a goal than any other player in the Premier League.

We've picked out seven of his worst mistakes over the past season-and-a-half and listed them below.

Shkodran Mustafi | Man Utd 2-2 Arsenal | December 5, 2018

Questions began to be asked about De Gea during Man United's draw against Arsenal last season.

Mustafi broke the deadlock in the 26th minute after a howler by De Gea.

The German defender's header should have been easily saved by De Gea, but he could only palm the ball up in the air and into the back of the net.

Granit Xhaka | Arsenal 2-0 Man Utd | March 10, 2019

De Gea made another costly error against Arsenal three months after.

Xhaka unleashed an ambitious 30-yard effort that should have easily been saved.

But De Gea misjudged the flight of the ball and could only watch as it whizzed past him.

Leroy Sane | Man Utd 0-2 Man City | April 24, 2019

Man United were holding their rivals to a draw until De Gea's mistake in the 53rd minute.

Sane's shot at the near post should have been saved by De Gea. He got a foot to it but it wasn't enough to keep it out.

Marcos Alonso | Man Utd 1-1 Chelsea | April 28, 2019

Four days after his mistake vs Man City, De Gea was at it again.

He spilled a 30-yard effort to Marcos Alonso, who made no mistake from close range.

Patrick van Aanholt | Man Utd 1-2 Crystal Palace | August 24, 2019

Man United fell to a shock 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford after De Gea's mistake.

The former Atletico goalkeeper failed to keep out Van Aanholt's effort at the near post.

Victor Lindelof (OG) | Man Utd 1-1 Everton | 15 December, 2019

To be honest, this isn't entirely De Gea's fault.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin had an arm in De Gea's face, but he should have been stronger and more assertive in his attempts to punch the ball clear.

The ball then bounced off the unfortunate Lindelof and into the net.

Ismaïla Sarr | Watford 2-0 Man Utd | 22 December, 2019

De Gea's latest mistake was arguably the worst of the lot.

The 29-year-old was somehow unable to keep out Sarr's tame effort from inside the box.

It even would have been an embarrassing mistake for a Sunday League goalkeeper.

Despite his mistakes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is standing by De Gea.

But you have to wonder how long he will be patient for. De Gea's mistake set United up for a loss yesterday.

All the errors listed above led to United dropping points.

De Gea has now made mistakes in consecutive games. With such a good backup goalkeeper in Sergio Romero, Solskjaer may even be considering dropping De Gea to the bench.
