All eyes were on north London last night as Tottenham hosted Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho welcomed Frank Lampard to the opposite dugout, hoping to teach his former player a lesson or two about management.

But on Sunday, it was the student who became the master, as the Blues out-foxed their rivals to win 2-0.

The fixture didn't pass without controversy either.

Spurs goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga clattered Marcos Alonso inside the box and conceded a penalty after VAR intervened, but he avoided a red card.

Son Heung-min wasn't so lucky though. In the second half, he went down under a challenge from Antonio Rudiger and reacted by kicking out at the German defender.

VAR stepped in again and ruled that the winger had committed an act of violent conduct and he was given his marching orders.

With Spurs going down in dramatic fashion, the attention turned to Mourinho post-match, and his comments certainly didn't disappoint.

In recent weeks, we've seen a positive, PR driven Jose, who has stayed out of trouble and remained cool during his interviews.

But that all changed on Sunday, as the 'Special One' hit out at Rudiger, Lampard and the referee after Tottenham's 2-0 defeat.

"Rudiger is for sure having scans in the hospital on broken ribs because it was a really violent situation," he said, sarcastically.

"In some countries, like mine, with our culture, we used to say 'clever player'.

"But in this country - and one of the reasons I fell in love with this country in 2004 - is because we don’t call them clever, we call them other things that I refuse to call.

"I hope that Rudiger recovers quick from the broken ribs. For me, it’s not a red card."

Mourinho's attention then turned to Lampard and his tactics, as he claimed that Chelsea cloned Conte's successful formation on Sunday.

"They played in a system they are very comfortable with. A system they played for two years with Antonio Conte. Lots of their players are very comfortable with it."

That's not very friendly now is it, Jose?

Perhaps this happy, calm figure he cut for four weeks was just a front. It seems Mourinho is back to his old self and actually, fans much prefer that.
