The decade is almost over and we've seen so many iconic Premier League moments in the last 10 years.

No one will ever forget Leicester City's 2016 title triumph or Sergio Aguero's last gasp goal that won Manchester City the league four years earlier.

Right now, Liverpool are building a strong team and they could become the most recognisable squad as we enter the next decade.

But what about the current one? Who are the most iconic players to grace the Premier League between 2010 and 2020?

Well, BBC Sport have attempted to answer that question.

They asked football fans to pick their most iconic stars and the result is now in.

Check out the top 15 below, with their stats correct from January 1, 2010 onward in the Premier League:

15) Raheem Sterling - Manchester City and Liverpool (242 appearances, 75 goals, 44 assists)

14) Yaya Toure - Manchester City (230 appearances, 62 goals, 32 assists)

13) John Terry - Chelsea (200 appearances, 73 clean sheets)

12) Robin van Persie - Arsenal and Manchester United (154 appearances, 98 goals, 30 assists)

11) N'Golo Kante - Leicester City and Chelsea (152 appearances, 10 goals, 10 assists)

10) David de Gea - Manchester United (292 appearances, 102 clean sheets)

9) Eden Hazard - Chelsea (245 appearances, 85 goals, 54 assists)

8) David Silva - Manchester City (297 appearances, 57 goals, 89 assists)

7) Harry Kane - Tottenham (197 appearances, 134 goals, 20 assists)

6) Frank Lampard - Chelsea and Manchester City (158 appearances, 64 goals, 18 assists)

5) Vincent Kompany - Manchester City (223 appearances, 83 clean sheets)

4) Wayne Rooney - Manchester United and Everton (248 appearances, 114 goals, 54 assists)

3) Jamie Vardy - Leicester City (193 appearances, 96 goals, 27 assists)

2) James Milner - Aston Villa, Liverpool and Manchester City (305 appearances, 35 goals, 52 assists)

1) Sergio Aguero - Manchester City (251 appearances, 173 goals, 45 assists)

So there we have it, Aguero is the most iconic Premier League player of the decade according to fans - with a massive 26% of them voting for the Argentine.

There's little to argue about his win, really.

Aguero gave us one of the most memorable moments in Premier League history, scoring in the 96th minute to win City their first title in 2012. The honours have been falling ever since.

But it's perhaps surprising to see Milner and Vardy so high up in the vote. Of course, the latter has been on fire this season and Leicester's shock title win in 2016 no doubt helps his reputation.

It feels like Milner has been around in the Premier League forever and having turned out for three separate clubs since 2010, he's become the top-flight's Mr Reliable - that's perhaps why he's so well recognised.
