Chelsea's 2-0 win away at Tottenham Hotspur should have been the talking point of the Premier League weekend.

And in a way it was, but not for reasons anyone wanted.

The game was stopped in the second half after players heard racist chanting coming from the home fans.

Antonio Rudiger, in particular, appeared targeted and made it very clear to the referee that there had been monkey chants directed at him.

Three announcements were subsequently made to the fans inside the stadium, in line with protocol, warning against any kind of racist abuse.

It now appears, however, that this wasn't the only racist incident in the game.

The Guardian report that a Chelsea fan has been arrested for directing racist abuse towards Spurs' Son Heung-Min.

Son himself hadn't heard the abuse but Chelsea fans had reported the incident to police.

That kind of 'self-policing' had been called for by Spurs boss Jose Mourinho after the game.

Mourinho believed fans should "look to the guy to the left and look to the guy to the right, and listen to the guy behind me and listen to the guy in front of me.

"And if anyone has any little manifestation, to try in there in between them to kill it immediately. That’s the only thing I can ask for."

In the wake of the game, the Government have called for more from football authorities to tackle what is firmly a growing issue in English football.

"Racism of any kind has no place in football or anywhere else and we must confront this vile behaviour," said a Downing Street spokesperson, per the BBC.

"Clearly there remains more work to be done by the football authorities in tackling this issue and we are committed to working with them on this to stamp it out."

They also made it clear that they themselves would take 'further steps' if the improvement isn't seen.

It's a shame it has taken yet another incident but it does look like we might finally see action.
