A decade of Champions League football has officially come to an end.

We've seen some astonishing games, goals and moments in Europe's premier competition from Inter Milan's triumph in 2010 to Liverpool lifting their sixth trophy nine years later.

As a result, BT Sport are celebrating the last 10 years of the Champions League and have taken it upon themselves to compile the 50 best goals we've seen in the competition during that time.

If you're thinking that sounds difficult, then you're not wrong, and especially when you consider it's an epoch that features the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in their primes.

However, they've made their picks nonetheless and you can check out our breakdown of the 50 strikes that made the cut.

50. Didier Drogba vs Bayern Munich (2011/12)

Oh baby, we're off to a flyer. Chelsea fans will never forget the moment Drogba sent his header crashing past Manuel Neuer, keeping their Champions League dreams alive.

49. Cristiano Ronaldo vs Liverpool (2014/15)

This isn't the last time we'll see Ronaldo on this list, but his smart finish at Anfield is definitely a solid way to mark his first entry.

48. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain vs Manchester City (2017/18)

Speaking of Anfield... this absolute belter from Oxlade-Chamberlain helped Liverpool into the semi-finals and ensured he produced a pre-injury strike to remember him by.

47. Lionel Messi vs AS Roma (2015/16)

This level of team football between Barcelona's legendary 'MSN' shouldn't be shown before the watershed. Shut your eyes, youngsters.

46. Juan Cuadrado vs Bayern Munich (2015/16)

Juve rushed from one penalty area to the other in 13 seconds for one of the greatest counterattacking goals the competition has ever seen. What an assist by Alvaro Morata.

45. Lucas Moura vs Ajax (2018/19)

Sure, it wasn't the most spectacular of strikes, but we can forgive its inclusion given the mind-blowing circumstances.

44. David Neres vs Real Madrid (2018/19)

The finish from Neres was pretty rudimentary, but it's all about the assist from Dusan Tadic and that soul-taking roulette.

43. Thomas Delaney vs Club Brugge (2016/17)

How on earth has this finished so low on the list? Delaney literally thwacked a 30-yard volley into the postage stamp and it's only worthy of 43rd place!?

42. Divock Origi vs Barcelona (2018/19)

Again, this goal is all about the assist. Trent Alexander-Arnold will forever be remembered for his quick-thinking corner and Origi finished it off with impressive composure.

41. Leroy Sane vs Hoffenheim (2018/19)

If a Ronaldo knuckle-ball free-kick mated with Messi's curling version, this would be the child.

40. Robert Lewandowski vs Malaga (2012/13)

The outrageous backheel from Marco Reus. The little dink over the goalkeeper from Lewandowski. The finishing touch into the net. You love to see it.

39. Gonzalo Higuain vs AS Monaco (2016/17)

On the topic of backheel assists, this was some next-level vision from Cuadrado and there was no chance of Higuain missing during the peak of his powers.

38. Alexis Sanchez vs Ludogorets (2016/17)

The absolute audacity to just float this shot into the far top corner is exactly what made Sanchez so incredible before, well, Manchester United came along.

37. Antoine Griezmann vs Rostov (2016/17)

To take this volley first time despite the lobbed pass being deflected was a feat in itself, never mind managing to prod it past the goalkeeper.

36. Lionel Messi vs Panathinaikos (2010/11)

Rumour has it this level of chemistry between Messi, Pedro and Xavi would be classed as illegal public affection in over 20 countries. That's what we've heard, anyway.

35. Emmanuel Eboue vs Real Madrid (2012/13)

Eboue only needed to direct this into the bottom corner to score, but the fact he walloped it into the far postage stamp is exactly why it makes the cut.

34. Mesut Ozil vs Ludogorets (2016/17)

Poor Ludogorets were doubly humiliated by Arsenal during the 2016/17 campaign and Ozil took composure to a whole different level after he danced past the goalkeeper.

33. Luis Suarez vs Arsenal (2015/16)

There's something about a volley finding the top corner on the opposite side of the pitch to the television camera that looks so aesthetically pleasing.

32. Oscar vs Juventus (2012/13)

When you look back on this outrageous turn past Andrea Pirlo and stunning strike over Gianluigi Buffon, it makes you wonder what Oscar could have gone on to achieve.

31. Samir Nasri vs Porto (2009/10)

During his last two seasons at Arsenal, Nasri was one of the best dribblers in the world and Porto could certainly testify to that fact.

30. Luka Modric vs Manchester United (2012/13)

In a campaign that saw Modric named as La Liga's worst signing, this absolute belter at Old Trafford was the first sign of the Ballon d'Or-winning player he would become in Spain.

29. Radamel Falcao vs Manchester City (2016/17)

Some say, when planes fly over Willy Caballero's house at night, he wakes up in a cold sweat thinking it's Falcao's shot all over again.

28. Neymar vs Paris Saint-Germain (2016/17)

Imagine having the talent and skill to score a free-kick this good when your team is chasing three goals in 10 minutes and crossing was a feasible option.

27. Sadio Mane vs Bayern Munich (2018/19)

Neuer probably has a future in breakdancing when you see the moves Mane had him performing with this goal in Bavaria. Work it, Manuel.

26. Lionel Messi vs Bayern Munich (2014/15)

So iconic. The way Messi broke Boateng's ankles and left him in the plank position will never be forgotten, never mind him chipping our old friend Neuer.

25. Kevin-Prince Boateng vs Barcelona (2011/12)

The first touch and Ronaldo chop-like skill were otherworldly from Boateng and paved the way for it to become a legendary goal before he'd even wound up for the shot.

24. Marco Reus vs Galatasaray (2013/14)

Just one season after Eboue obliterated this very top corner, it seems as though Reus was on a personal mission to go one better. He succeeded.

23. Gareth Bale vs Inter Milan (2010/11)

Somewhere, somehow, Maicon will be breathing a sigh of relief when he sees which strike from Bale has made BT Sport's video.

22. Casemiro vs Napoli (2016/17)

This is the kind of strike that most us would balloon out of the Bernabeu and across the Portuguese border, but Casemiro tamed it into something breath-taking.

21. Arjen Robben vs Arsenal (2016/17)

There are some things in life that are unstoppable no matter how inevitable they are and Robben cutting on to his left foot to find the top corner is the finest example of all.

20. Cristiano Ronaldo vs Manchester United (2018/19)

How Ronaldo managed to take this first time and over his shoulder without building himself a pair of human wing-mirrors is frankly beyond us.

19. Patrice Evra vs Bayern Munich (2013/14)

There weren't many things for United fans to cheer about during David Moyes' only season in charge, but Evra turning into Tony Yeboah at the Allianz Arena was a welcome anomaly.

18. Lionel Messi vs AC Milan (2012/13)

It looked as though Messi had half of northern Italy marking him outside the penalty area, yet he still managed to find the top corner with an absolute worldie.

17. Saul Niguez vs Bayern Munich (2015/16)

One of the best individual goal we've seen this decade. Saul clearly took a degree at the school of Messi and passed with a first.

16. Luis Suarez vs Paris Saint-Germain (2014/15)

You only need to look at our promotional image to see how wide of the post that Suarez curled this strike and still managed to find the net.

15. Arjen Robben vs Manchester United (2009/10)

While most mere mortals would have caused brain injuries in row Z, Robben met this corner first time and smashed it into the bottom corner with unerring composure.

14. Zlatan Ibrahimovic vs Anderlecht (2013/14)

Ibrahimovic hit this strike so hard that the ball just decided the laws of physics don't apply to it anymore.

13. Ivan Rakitic vs Tottenham Hotspur (2018/19)

A great goal in two parts. Philippe Coutinho essentially gave an audition for Swan Lake with his ballet-like assist and Rakitic rounded it off with a crashing volley off the post.

12. Mohamed Salah vs AS Roma (2017/18)

Salah's first-half display against Roma is one of the best we've ever seen in the Champions League and it reached its zenith with this strike past none other than Alisson Becker.

11. Lionel Messi vs Arsenal (2010/11)

The sheer audacity of Messi to float the ball over Manuel Almunia's head in the way that he did was justification for its Puskas Award nomination alone.

10. Alessandro Florenzi vs Barcelona (2015/16)

Shooting from both the touchline and halfway line all in one go usually ends in tears, unless you're Florenzi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen is between the sticks.

9. Ramires vs Barcelona (2011/12)

Gary Neville saved his X-rated commentary for Chelsea's second goal on the night, but Ramires' delicious chip over Victor Valdes was probably worthier of his 'scorgasm.'

8. Philippe Mexes vs Anderlecht (2012/13)

There's something beautifully random about seeing a centre-back attempt a bicycle kick from the edge of the penalty and genuinely score.

7. Mario Mandzukic vs Real Madrid (2016/17)

Sorry Mandzukic, but your bicycle kick was actually worse than the one it's been picked ahead of, we're just letting this slide because it was the final, after all.

6. Lionel Messi vs Liverpool (2018/19)

Messi has blurred the line between free-kick and penalty taking so much in recent seasons that this spectacular strike just felt like a formality.

5. Dejan Stankovic vs Schalke (2010/11)

Volleying home from just outside the centre-circle is absolute madness whether you're shooting at an open goal or not. One of the most underrated goals of the modern era.

4. Aaron Ramsey vs Galatasaray (2014/15)

You know when people say they've hit the sweet spot in ball sports? We're not sure there has ever been a better example than when Ramsey unleashed this heat-seeking missile in Turkey.

3. Cristiano Ronaldo vs Juventus (2017/18)

Ronaldo leaped so high for this iconic bicycle kick that we're surprised he didn't land with snow on his head.

2. Lionel Messi vs Real Madrid (2010/11)

You get the feeling that Messi just thinks 'f*** it, I'll do it all myself' in some matches and his one-man destruction of the Real defence was the grandest manifestation of his powers.

1. Gareth Bale vs Liverpool (2017/18)

Bale had to adjust his entire body to meet this cross with the perfect bicycle kick and the result was a Champions League final goal that surpassed that of his manager Zinedine Zidane.

GIVEMESPORT's Kobe Tong says

When the worst goal on the list is Drogba's bullet header, you know there's been some insane strikes in the Champions League over the last ten years.

For me, Messi's individual goal in the El Clasico is worthiest of top spot.

I subscribe to the idea that Bale's bicycle kick was better than Ronaldo's, but dribbling from the halfway line to destroy a Jose Mourinho side takes longer-sustained skill and ability.

In other words, a firework display of brilliance should take precedence over a flash of it.
