2019 has been an unbelievable year for Kofi Kingston, but it hasn't ended in a way that many WWE fans had hoped.

The year started off with a bang, as Kofi Kingston ascended to the top of WWE, winning the fans over and becoming WWE Champion at WrestleMania.

While he went on to have a long title reign, there were a few WWE fans who weren't happy with the way he was booked to lose the title.

Kingston lost the WWE Championship in just mere seconds in his match with Brock Lesnar during SmackDown's first episode on Fox back in October, much to the dismay of many fans.

Speaking to Yahoo! Sports, Kofi reflected on this anger by WWE fans, and while he appreciates their passion, sometimes you have to work with what you're given and make the best out of it.

He said: "I appreciate the passion [from the fans], I do. There are people who have careers that span years and they never have this kind of following, so I'm really fortunate to have that.

"It's their right to be angry if they want to be angry, but it's my job to keep moving forward. There's a whole lot of stuff we don't have control over, but we work with what we're given, try to get a little bit more and claw your way back. It might not be a direct, linear path."

While 2019 may not have ended the way which fans had hoped for Kingston, the man himself is thankful his hard work paid off.

The former WWE Champion said: "It's been an amazing year. You never know what kind of career you're going to have, you just kind of keep aspiring to be at the top of the mountain.

"You work as hard as you can, knowing there's not a lot of stuff you have control over, but sometimes the cards fall just right and fate pushes you into this position."

Many WWE fans will be keeping their fingers crossed that Kingston is able to find his way back into a singles title picture at some point in 2020.
