Spurs consider 'significant' bid for Serie A ace

Tottenham are reportedly planning a summer move for Napoli utility man Christian Maggio.

The 29-year-old can operate in the middle or on the right of midfield as well as being a capable right-back and is well renowned for his electric pace.

According to reports in the French press - as highlighted by - Spurs have been monitoring the Italian for some time and are plotting a 'significant' bid for him when the transfer window reopens in June.

Spurs are likely to have to spend in the region of €10m to sign Maggio, who has been a key player for Napoli this season in their pursuit of a first Scudetto since 1990.


Maggio is just one of a number of transfer targets for Spurs who are expected to invest heavily in the summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for the Barclays Premier League title.

Blackpool captain Charlie Adam is also reportedly on the Tottenham radar, as is Manchester City defender Micah Richards and White Hart Lane is likely to be a hub of transfer activity come the end of the season.
