Chelsea target Champions League qualification

Manchester United have struggled at Stamford Bridge in recent years, with tightly contested encounters and traditionally low scoring affairs.

Tonight’s game could prove to be a similar story with sportingbet offering odds of 9/1 for no goals at all to be converted.

A weekend rest for the Blues could give them the advantage as they look to cement their place in the top-four, and thus secure Champions League qualification.

A win tonight will move them above Tottenham Hotspur as well as close the current gap of 15 points between themselves and United.

Ancelotti will have a full squad to choose from, with his only selection headache stemming from the decision of who to pick to partner the in-form Nicolas Anelka up front, with new signing Fernando Torres’ first goal in Chelsea colours surely just around the corner.

Sportingbet offer odds of 11/2 for Torres to score the first goal in tonight’s game. BET HERE NOW!

Having endured a miserable February where they managed just two wins from their last six in all competitions, Chelsea have gained just one point from their last two Barclays Premier League games.

They have won only two of their last six league encounters at Stamford Bridge, suffering defeats to Sunderland and Liverpool in the process.

However, Chelsea will take confidence from the fact that they did the league double over United last season on their way to clinching the title, and they have not lost to Sir Alex Ferguson’s side in the last eight meetings at Stamford Bridge, winning five of them.

In that time, United have scored just four goals, drawing a blank on five occasions and their recent away form would also suggest that they may struggle tonight having won just three of their last eight games on the road – at relegation strugglers West Brom and Wigan.
