UFC star Conor McGregor has donated €25,000 worth of toys to a charity for homeless children in Dublin.

‘The Notorious’ and his long-term partner Dee Devlin donated the vouchers for Smyths Toys to Inner City Helping Homeless ahead of Christmas.

The money will come as a huge boost to the non-profit charity during a period that is particularly difficult given the plummeting temperatures.

McGregor has a reputation as one of MMA's most controversial characters, but his generous pledge is a reminder to all that the bad-boy of UFC has a heart.

ICHH took to social media to thank both McGregor and Devlin with the following post on Instagram.

“Thank you so much to Conor McGregor and Dee Devlin who kindly donated €25,000 of Smyths Toys vouchers to us to distribute to families at our Santa’s Grotto at the #FillanXmasTruck event and to families we supported in the run up to Christmas.

“We appreciate the kind donation of the vouchers and sponsoring the Santa’s Grotto allowing us to help make the children’s Christmas more special.”

The 31-year-old has not fought in over a year, since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018 at UFC 229, and hasn’t won a contest since beating Eddie Alvarez in November 2016.

However, the Irishman makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon next month when he faces Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246.

McGregor is expected to target fights against Jorge Masvidal and a rematch with Khabib if he gets past Cerrone in Las Vegas.

But while all the attention ahead of UFC 246 has focused on McGregor’s comeback, Cerrone insists he is no speed bump on the Irishman’s road to bigger match-ups, and will put his body on the line to emerge victorious after recent losses to both Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson.
