The new year will bring new storylines to all parts of WWE, and hopefully some new faces and heels.

Raw, SmackDown, and NXT will see new feuds take place, especially in the build-up towards WrestleMania.

It will all begin properly at the Royal Rumble at the end of January, before accelerating towards WrestleMania, and even going strong after then.

Post WrestleMania is usually when WWE begins their new season as well. There's bound to be a couple of face turns, as well as heel turns, along the way to keep storylines fresh and to add shock value.

In this article, we're going to take a look at six superstars in total, three that need a face turn, and three that need a heel turn.

Face turns

Sasha Banks

It has only been a couple of months since Sasha Banks turned heel from when she returned to WWE from her hiatus, but it might be wise for the company to make her a face again in the new year.

At the moment, SmackDown seems to be reliant on Lacey Evans' current face run being a hit with fans. It's going okay for now, but it's no guarantee to stay that way.

Banks being a face again will not only give SmackDown a strong face in the women's division, it will also put WWE on the path for a better Banks vs Bayley feud than what we received in 2018.

Andrade

Big things could be in store for Andrade in 2020, especially if he turns face. We knew WWE had big plans when he was selected in the first round by Raw in the WWE Draft back in October.

The former NXT Champion hasn't won a singles title since moving away from NXT, but that could change in the new year. A face turn could help, as there are already plenty of heels on Raw he could face.

He just needs another title win in order to breakout in 2020, and if WWE turns him face, he could compete with Rey Mysterio as WWE's top latino star.

Kairi Sane

Currently part of The Kabuki Warriors with Asuka, Kairi Sane is unlikely to turn face anytime soon, so this is more of an option for after WrestleMania or even further into 2020.

We've seen the potential of Sane as a face in WWE already, as she was a huge hit during her time in NXT as NXT Women's Champion. The same could happen now she's on Raw.

If she reverts back to her Pirate Princess, not only could she be a top female superstar in the women's division, there's potential for her to be a top merch seller in WWE and even a feud vs Asuka.

Heel turns

Pete Dunne

At some point or another, Adam Cole and The Undisputed Era are going to be moved to the main roster, leaving a top heel vacancy open on NXT. Pete Dunne could fill that void.

Time and time again, The Bruiserweight has proven he has what it takes to be the main star in NXT. Not only is he a former NXT UK Champion, but he has also delivered several Match of the Year candidates, most recently at Survivor Series against Adam Cole for the NXT title.

He's been a great heel in the past and 2020 should be no different if he's turned. Dunne is already ready to be the next top heel in NXT. He just needs to be turned.

Ember Moon

Currently out due to an injury, it might still be some time before we see Ember Moon back in a WWE ring, but when she returns, she should be booked as a heel.

A heel turn could be exactly what The War Goddess needs to succeed on the main roster, as she has struggled to make an impact since moving away from NXT after WrestleMania in 2018.

We know Moon has what it takes to lead a division, as she did exactly that in WWE. A wise move might be to team her up with another superstar as a heel tag team and go after the women's tag team titles, just to get some momentum behind her as a heel once she returns.

Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman is another superstar who, in the eyes of many WWE fans, is not being used to his full potential, and therefore could benefit from a heel turn.

The Monster Among Men is yet to capture a singles title on the main roster, and while it might happen soon if he feuds with Shinsuke Nakamura entering the Royal Rumble, a heel turn could lock it in.

His brute strength and size should make him an unstoppable heel if booked correctly on SmackDown, which is different to the cunning heel we already have in King Corbin, and the mysterious Bray Wyatt.

2020 will be a big year for WWE, and the face turns and heel turns listed above will make Raw, SmackDown and NXT even more interesting to watch.
