'Black Ops 2' has topped a 'Call of Duty' game of the decade ranking on Twitter.

The tweet asked players to state their favourite game from the franchise this decade, with 'Black Ops 2' coming out victorious and by some way.

Users generally showed their support for 'Black Ops 2', with one writing: “Black Ops 2. The most complete Call of Duty."

Another called it the “greatest CoD game of all time."

The game was released in 2012 and was acclaimed for its maps, game modes and mechanics, all of which mean it’s now remembered fondly by former players.

'Modern Warfare 3' and 'Black Ops' were also very popular choices on the Twitter debate, having been released in 2011 and 2010 respectively.

The responses show that 'Call of Duty' games released at the start of the decade seem to be more popular than those released towards the end of the decade.

However, that hasn’t stopped 'Call of Duty'’s recent releases from being worldwide bestsellers.

The most recent game in the franchise 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' was released in October 2019 and earned $600 million in its first three days. This broke multiple video game sales records and showed that 'Call of Duty' is still a major player in the world of video games.

'Modern Warfare' was also given positive scores by critics, with IGN scoring it 8/10 and Hardcore Gamer giving it 4.5/5.

Since it began in 2003, 'Call of Duty' has become one of the biggest video game franchises in the world, competing with the likes of 'Grand Theft Auto' and 'FIFA' on an international scale.

The franchise has faced criticism for some of the far-fetched aspects in some of its games, but overall, the series has proved popular enough to silence its critics.

It has now cemented itself as one of the most popular video game franchises of all time, with 'Black Ops 2' being seen by many as its best venture yet.
