John Cena hasn't been around in WWE for a while, choosing instead to further his career in the movie industry.

The 16-time world champion has made sporadic appearances on Raw and SmackDown in 2019, but when you're such a big deal, you're in-demand, and now he's in his 40's his body will start to slow down inside the squared circle.

In the final few years of his full-time schedule in WWE, Cena's real-life relationship with Nikki Bella was brought to WWE television, and he was a key part of the reality show Total Divas alongside his fiancè.

Cena proposed in the middle of the ring at WrestleMania 33, but just a year later, the two separated, breaking the hearts of many wrestling fans around the world.

Nikki is now in a relationship with her Dancing With The Stars partner Artem Chigvintsev, but speaking to Health recently she would like to go back in time and let her supporters hear Cena's side of the story.

"The one thing I really regret about showcasing the breakup is that no one got to hear [John’s] voice, and it just seemed so one-sided," said Nikki, per News Chain.

“I felt like that wasn’t fair to him because he was on this journey with us from the beginning.

"What people don’t realise is that John never took one paycheck from Total Bellas.

“It was beautiful - he was fully there to support me. I’ll never forget his support and his love."

Nikki has also admitted that she does still love her former partner, but that doesn't mean they'll be getting back together in the future.

“That’s what made me sad — I don’t want to say it became the Nikki show, but in a way it did because you didn’t get to see John anymore," she continued.

My family loves John. I love John, he’s such an amazing person.

“The timing was off. But I love my family for that - they have never once been pro Nicole in this, and that is what has helped me grow. I didn’t have my family coddling me."
