Britain’s Tyson Fury has been voted as the potential heavyweight king in 2020 in a Sky Sports poll.

Fury received 42% of the vote at the time of writing, with Anthony Joshua a close second on 36%.

The poll looks at who will be the heavyweight champion of the world at the end of 2020 and includes a number of options, with other fighters such as Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte and Oleksandr Usyk.

Current WBC champion Wilder is in third place on 14% of the vote, while undefeated Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk is on 4% after moving up from the cruiserweight division.

Dillian Whyte has been tipped by 3% to be the heavyweight champion by the end of 2020, with just 1% having voted for someone not on the list after a total of 33,089 votes.

Other fighters that aren’t on the list but could challenge for titles include Andy Ruiz Jr, who recently lost his heavyweight belts in a rematch against Joshua, and Kubrat Pulev, who is the mandatory challenger for Joshua’s IBF belt.

The heavyweight division’s glittering year will start with the Fury vs Wilder rematch on February 22 in Las Vegas. The first bout ended in a controversial draw after Fury was deemed by many to be ahead on the scorecards.

The winner of that fight could then face Joshua in a potentially record-breaking unification bout, to see who truly is the king of the heavyweight division.

However, Joshua must first overcome either Pulev or the WBO’s mandatory challenger Usyk, with the latter fighter likely to be one of his toughest challenges.

Even though Usyk is relatively small for a heavyweight at 6’3”, he is a dangerous opponent due to his fast hands and stunning punching accuracy.

With boxing fans having spoken on who they think will become the heavyweight king in 2020, it’s now down to the fighters to see who will become victorious and lift all of the belts.
