Alisson Becker is considered by many to be the best goalkeeper in the world.

The Brazilian capped off what has been a fantastic year by helping Liverpool win the Club World Cup earlier this month.

But has he been the best goalkeeper in England's top tier this season?

The Premier League season has now past the halfway mark.

Recently, we've been looking at stats from this campaign to rank every Premier League player in their respective position.

We've already done strikers and centre-backs and now we're going to do the same with goalkeepers.

To be included in the ranking, goalkeepers must have played a minimum of five full games this season (450 minutes).

24 goalkeepers have reached that threshold and they have been ranked below...

24. Angus Gunn - 6.19

23. Adrian: 6.32

22. Jordan Pickford - 6.37

21. Kepa Arrizabalaga - 6.40

According to stats, Gunn has been comfortably the Premier League's worst goalkeeper this campaign.

Signed for £10m this summer, Gunn was dropped by Southampton after their 9-0 defeat to Leicester in October. He let in 25 goals in 10 games.

Pickford is England's number one but has statistically been the third worst goalkeeper in the league this season, having conceded 30 goals in 20 games and kept just three clean sheets.

There have been rumours Frank Lampard is ready to replace Kepa at Chelsea and the stats suggest that would be a wise decision.

20. David de Gea - 6.43

19. Ben Foster - 6.55

18. Roberto - 6.56

17. Alisson: 6.56

16. Nick Pope - 6.58

De Gea was once considered the best goalkeeper in the world, and for some time too.

But errors have crept into his game and this season he's been the fifth worst in the league.

Manchester United will need him to improve if they are to make it back into the top four.

Alisson Becker has not shown why he's considered to be the best goalkeeper in the world.

The Brazilian has made a few mistakes this season and was sent off against Brighton earlier this campaign.

He has improved in recent weeks, though, with Alisson keeping clean sheets in each of his last three Premier League games.

Ironically, he's been rated the same as West Ham's Roberto, who was labelled the worst goalkeeper in Premier League history earlier this season.

15. Tom Heaton - 6.60

14. Paulo Gazzaniga - 6.61

13. Ederson: 6.61

12. Dean Henderson - 6.63

11. Rui Patricio - 6.65

Gazzaniga came in for the injured Lloris earlier this season and has performed well, although he did suffer a moment of madness against Chelsea a week ago.

Ederson has statistically been just the 13th best goalkeeper in the league this season.

He has conceded 17 goals in 18 games and is currently serving a three-game ban after being sent off against Wolves on Friday.

The 26-year-old has been marginally better than compatriot Alisson, though.

Henderson is highly rated and has been showing at Sheffield United why he could be England's future number one.

10. Alex McCarthy - 6.69

9. Kasper Schmeichel - 6.78

8. Mat Ryan - 6.79

7. Aaron Ramsdale - 6.80

6. Lukasz Fabianski - 6.83

Southampton's form has improved drastically since McCarthy replaced Gunn as their number one.

The Saints goalkeeper has conceded just 13 goals in his 10 Premier League games so far this season.

Ramsdale was playing League One football with AFC Wimbledon last season but has successfully made the transition to the Premier League.

Stats show he's been the best English goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.

Fabianski missed the last few months with injury. Before his lay-off, West Ham were flying high in the top five. Now they are just one-point above the relegation zone.

He marked his return from injury against Leicester on Saturday by saving a penalty. He will be crucial in West Ham's fight against relegation.

5. Vicente Guaita - 6.83

4. Martin Dubravka - 6.83

3. Tim Krul - 6.83

2. Hugo Lloris - 6.87

1. Bernd Leno - 6.89

Krul was statistically the best goalkeeper in the Premier League for some time, but his rating has suffered after a few poor displays in recent weeks.

Norwich are currently routed to the bottom of the table but they would have been a lot worse off without the Dutch goalkeeper.

Lloris has missed the past few months with injury but stats show he was playing to a high level before his layoff.

The best goalkeeper in the Premier League this season, statistically speaking, has been Leno.

The Arsenal stopper has conceded 28 goals and kept just two clean sheets from his 19 games.

But he's had a lot to do. He's second in the Premier League with 76 saves this season (behind Dubravka). Leno is also yet to make an error leading to a goal.

Arsenal may be shambles this season, but at least they have one of the best goalkeepers in the league in the shape of Leno.
