There are just a few days of the 2010s left and with that in mind, BT Sport's pundits have been picking their Premier League XI of the decade.

Peter Crouch, Chris Sutton and Jermaine Jenas are far from the first to attempt the task of selecting the best players to have graced the English top flight in recent years.

It's a game of opinions though, and all three have compiled noticeably different teams.

There are some obvious debates to be had.

Should Virgil van Dijk be recognised for his phenomenal impact on Liverpool's defence since 2018, or should longer-standing candidates like John Terry, Vincent Kompany and Rio Ferdinand take his place?

Likewise, does Frank Lampard make it despite enjoying his best years in the 2000's and ending the 2010s as a manager?

Jenas, Sutton and Crouch have answered all those questions in the video below:

Here are their selections in full:

Jermaine Jenas

De Gea, Walker, Kompany, Cahill, Rose, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Hazard, Kane, Aguero

It's remarkable that only Jenas has selected Eden Hazard. The Belgian was Chelsea's best player by a mile during his time at Stamford Bridge and won PFA Player of the Year in 2015 and was named in the PFA Team of the Year on four separate occasions.

Chris Sutton

Ederson, Ivanovic, Ferdinand, Terry, Evra, Fernandinho, Kante, David Silva, Lampard, Aguero, Rooney

Sutton has made a huge call by selecting Man City's Ederson ahead of De Gea. Yet there could be something in this. The Spanish stopper has made far more high-profile errors and Ederson has won two league titles far more recently.

Ferdinand makes Sutton's cut despite retiring in 2015 and really struggling in his final season with QPR. Four-time title winner Kompany is arguably far more deserving of a place.

Peter Crouch

De Gea, Walker, Kompany, Terry, Ashley Cole, Kante, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Bale, Aguero, Kane

Crouch is the only pundit to include Gareth Bale, having played alongside him at Tottenham as he earned a then world-record move to Real Madrid. That was all the way back in 2013, but the Welshman's hat-trick vs Inter Milan has stuck in Crouch's memory.

Rooney can perhaps feel aggrieved to miss out here, but it was a matter of recognising Kane's two Golden Boots instead.

GIVEMESPORT'S Kat Lucas: De Gea, Walker, Kompany, Terry, Evra, Kante, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Hazard, Aguero, Kane

It's hard to avoid recency bias and go for those players who have made the biggest impact in the last few seasons. However, looking at the decade as a whole, we have to lean towards Vincent Kompany and John Terry at centre-back as opposed to someone like Virgil van Dijk.

Left-back, meanwhile, is a difficult call. It's not unreasonable that Jenas has gone for Danny Rose as he was on fire alongside Walker at Spurs between 2015 and 2017 - but the England international spent the early part of the 2010s at Bristol City and Sunderland on loan and has never been quite the same since his injury at the start of 2017.

Evra was right up there during his time at Manchester United.

Up front, it's impossible to leave out Kane or Aguero. In terms of consistency, the duo are simply unmatched.
