Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg.

The striker has lit up the Champions League this season with eight goals in six appearances, in addition to 16 league goals.

In spite of that, the 19-year-old cost just £18million.

However, his wage demands appeared to be a stumbling block for the Serie A champions and BVB have now swooped in with a shock move.

The news will come as a big blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer too, with the starlet thought to have chosen the Bundesliga outfit after being guarantees about playing time.

United fans were almost certain of securing his signature just a matter of weeks ago when he was reported to be on a plane to the north-west of England to thrash out a deal.

Instead, he is headed for Dortmun, who sit fourth in the league currently, seven points behind pace-setters RB Leipzig.

Even if Jadon Sancho is expected to leave the Westfalenstadion in the New Year, or in the summer at the latest, that still leaves Lucien Favre with a potent trio of Haaland, Mario Gotze and Thorgan Hazard.

Dortmund's attack has suddenly got all the more terrifying.
