2019 is almost over and soon WWE will be ushering in a new year with new feuds and storylines to get fans excited.

2019 has been a big year for WWE across all brands, not only the main roster shows of Raw and SmackDown but NXT too.

While there have been some annoying moments like the Wild Card rule, there have also been some moments that WWE fans can look back on with fondness for years to come.

Superstars like Becky Lynch, Kofi Kingston and Bray Wyatt have been through incredible stories this year that has changed how fans look at their careers in the ring.

With that in mind, here are five of the best moments in WWE in 2019.

Women main event WrestleMania

WWE made history at this year's WrestleMania with the first-ever women's main event in the show's history.

Becky Lynch faced off against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair with the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championship on the line in a Winner Takes All Triple Threat match in the main event of WrestleMania 35 in April.

The Man would win the match and become the first-ever woman to hold both Raw and SmackDown titles simultaneously. She is still Raw Women's Champion today, but overall, the match headling WrestleMania was a ground-breaking moment for women in WWE.

Roman Reigns beats leukaemia

One of WWE's best feel-good moments of the year was when Roman Reigns returned to the company and announced he had beaten leukaemia.

In October 2018, Reigns announced that his leukemia had returned after 11 years of privately battling it and being in remission. He relinquished the Universal title at the time and went on hiatus for four months.

In February earlier this year, and to a huge pop, The Big Dog returned to WWE and announced his leukaemia was in remission, with many feeling like the moment helped him connect with the fans and become a true top babyface in the company.

Kofi Kingston finally wins a world title

Kofi Kingston also had an incredible WrestleMania this year, producing one of the best, and most emotional, WWE moments of the year as he finally reached the top after 13 years with the company.

Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 and win the WWE Championship for the first time in his career. Many argued it was the best WrestleMania moment of the entire show despite not being in the main event.

He went on to hold the WWE title for six months, defeating the likes of Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton along the way, before losing to Brock Lesnar in October. The impact of his title reign will be felt for years to come, as it helped to break down racial barriers.

NXT officially breaks out

NXT as a whole produced one of the best moments in WWE in 2019 as it officially became the third brand of WWE alongside Raw and SmackDown.

NXT in 2019 went from a pre-recorded show on WWE Network, to being broadcasted out live every week on USA Network in September, to participating at Survivor Series in November for the first time ever, and winning the event overall too.

As we move forward into 2020, more superstars from the Raw and SmackDown are expected to move to NXT, adding more exposure to the brand, and now there are rumours of an NXT match taking place on the main WrestleMania card. NXT is no longer just for development.

The Fiend's rise

Mysterious superstars have a strong chance of being a hit in WWE, and when Bray Wyatt as 'The Fiend' made its debut back in July, a new superstar was added to the collection.

The split personality of The Fiend and Firefly Fun House Bray Wyatt was an instant hit with fans as it was fresh and nothing quite like fans had seen before, and WWE capitalised on it quickly with merchandise.

The Fiend went on to capture the Universal Championship by beating Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel. Entering 2020, he looks unstoppable and is bound to be one of the main stars at WrestleMania.

2020 will have to be a great year in WWE if it is to stand a chance against the best moments 2019 has to offer.
