The 2010s have been quite the decade for Liverpool.

Back in January 2010, few would have predicted that the Reds would be the world’s most exciting football team by December 2019.

It’s been a topsy-turvy 10 years for the Merseyside outfit, who began the decade with Roy Hodgson replacing Rafael Benitez in the Anfield hot-seat.

Kenny Dalglish then briefly took the reins, delivering the League Cup, before Brendan Rodgers’ appointment in June 2012.

Rodgers almost led Liverpool to their first league title since 1990 but the Reds fell agonisingly short at the end of the 2013/14 campaign. He was then replaced by Jurgen Klopp in October 2015 and the charismatic German coach has transformed the club’s fortunes over the past four years.

But who are Liverpool’s top goalscorers of the decade?

One fan on Reddit has tallied up the numbers and published the top 10 - and there are one or two surprises.

10. James Milner

Goals: 26

In at number 10, it’s James Milner. What a signing the Ribera-loving midfielder been for the Reds.

Brought to Anfield on a free transfer in June 2015 after leaving Manchester City, Milner has played 203 games for the Reds, scoring 26 goals.

Quite a few of those goals have come from the penalty spot. The no-nonsense 33-year-old doesn’t seem to be affected by pressure.

9. Jordan Henderson

Goals: 26

Much-maligned for a lot of his Liverpool career, Jordan Henderson now receives the credit that he so richly deserves.

The Reds’ captain, who joined the club from Sunderland in 2011, has scored 26 goals in 350 games for his current employers.

8. Divock Origi

Goals: 33

Need a vital goal in a big match? Just send on Divock Origi.

The Belgian striker has popped up with some massive goals for Liverpool in recent seasons, including his strikes in last season’s Champions League semi-final and final against Barcelona and Tottenham, respectively.

Thirty-three goals in 122 games isn’t a bad return at all.

7. Philippe Coutinho

Goals: 54

Philippe Coutinho must kick himself for his decision to leave Liverpool for Barcelona in January 2018.

The Brazilian’s career took something of a nose-dive after he moved to the Camp Nou, while Liverpool went on to become champions of Europe.

That said, he was a fantastic player for the Reds, and some of his 54 goals were out of this world.

6. Steven Gerrard

Goals: 61

Steven Gerrard scored 186 goals for Liverpool, 61 of which came in the 2010s. That’s pretty impressive.

The Anfield hero brought the curtain down on his illustrious career with the Reds in 2015.

5. Daniel Sturridge

Goals: 67

At his best, what a player. Daniel Sturridge was magnificent during his first season-and-a-half at Liverpool, scoring 35 goals in 49 appearances.

Sadly, a succession of untimely injuries took their toll and Sturridge’s spell ended on a rather unceremonious note.

The 30-year-old currently plays for Turkish side Trabzonspor but he will always occupy a special place in the hearts of Liverpool fans.

4. Sadio Mane

Goals: 73

Everyone knew Sadio Mane was a decent player when Liverpool signed him from Southampton in 2016 - but nobody knew he was *this* good.

The Senegal international is now widely regarded as one of the world’s best forwards and seems to be improving all the time.

He scored 26 goals last season and has bagged 14 in 27 games so far this term.

3. Roberto Firmino

Goals: 74

Because he’s *such* a Klopp-type player, it’s easy to forget that it was actually Rodgers who brought Roberto Firmino to Anfield in the summer of 2015.

The Brazilian has been magnificent for Liverpool, contributing far more than goals alone.

2. Luis Suarez

Goals: 82

Liverpool fans adored Luis Suarez - even after he left Anfield for Barcelona in 2014.

But he tarnished his legacy in the eyes of many Reds with his behaviour during last season’s Champions League semi-finals.

As a result, many Liverpool fans will be pleased to see the Uruguayan - who is easily one of the most talented players in the club’s history - is only second on this list.

1. Mohamed Salah

Goals: 84

And in top spot, it’s Mohamed Salah, who has scored an incredible 84 goals in just 130 games since joining Liverpool in the summer of 2017.

The prolific Egyptian forward scored 44 goals in his debut season with the Reds - including a record-breaking tally of 32 in the Premier League - and then hit 27 in all competitions the following campaign.

Salah currently has 13 goals in 26 games this term and will be aiming to hit at least 25 goals for the third season running.

It’ll be fascinating to see how many goals the likes of Salah, Firmino and Mane will end their Liverpool careers with. The three of them will score well over 100 each for the Reds, you’d suspect.

It’ll also warm the hearts of every Liverpool fan to see both Milner and Henderson in the top 10 with the same number of goals.

It was a little surprising to see that Fernando Torres failed to make the top 10, but then you remember that he left Anfield in January 2011.

He probably would have been top of this list had he decided to stay put with the Reds…
