It's finally the last day of the decade and what an incredible chapter it has been.

The world of football has changed in a multitude of ways - from the meteoric jump in transfer fees, to the introduction of the infamous VAR system.

We have seen incredible goals, the rise and fall of dynasties, and the emergence of some of the most exciting talent the planet has ever seen.

However, if there is one battle that has dominated the footballing landscape over the last decade, then it simply has to be the ding dong, back-and-fourth war between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Both men have been absolutely relentless in their pursuit of the title of the greatest of all time, sharing just about every individual honour that was available over a simply bonkers ten year period.

The two now have 11 Ballon d'Or's between them and have broken just about every record there is to break.

If, for some bizarre reason you still have reason to question their greatness though, then let us settle those doubts for you.

Between the two of them, Ronaldo and Messi have scored 704 league goals this decade - a staggering tally that eclipses that of even some of the biggest teams in England.

As a team, Arsenal can do no better than match that number, while Manchester United (688) and Tottenham (657) fall well short of it.

Considering the fact that United and Arsenal began the decade with their two greatest managers at their respective helms, the fact that Messi and Ronaldo have just about eclipsed them is quite unreal.

The rise of Harry Kane has done little for Tottenham's ambitions of getting anywhere near them while teams like Liverpool (715) and Chelsea (715) only just bettered them.

And, despite their advancing age, the deadly duo show absolutely no signs of slowing down.

The only thing left for football fans to do is enjoy them while we still have them - long may their dominance last.
